What are the different types of choke tubes?
There are several different kinds of choke tubes that you can get for your Mossberg shotgun. Each tube type has its own purpose and may be better suited to certain shooting situations than others. A list below shows all available types with descriptions:
Full Choke Tube – This is a small hole that provides a tight shot pattern. It’s best used at long range, such as when hunting birds or other animals from far away distances because it will help to keep your pellets grouped together tightly over longer ranges so they hit their mark more often than not if aimed properly! Shooters use this when target practicing too since these tighter patterns make hitting targets easier even over large distances like 100 yards (or 91.44 meters).
Improved Cylinder Choke Tube – The improved cylinder is a good choice for general shotgunning purposes and can be used for clay pigeons, waterfowl, upland game, and turkeys. This choke tube type has less constriction than the full choke which results in a wider shot pattern that is still effective at medium range.
Modified Choke Tube – A modified choke will provide you with an even more open shot pattern as compared to the improved cylinder tube and is great for shots taken from around 20-40 yards (or 18.29-37.16 meters) away when hunting birds or other small game like rabbits. As with all tubes though, it’s best to test out different chokes before settling on one so that you can see which type gives the best results for your needs!
Improved Modified Choke Tube – You’ll find this particular choke tube to have even more constriction than a modified choke and is perfect if you’re looking at using it when hunting turkeys or waterfowl in close quarters such as thick brushy areas where there isn’t much room between trees etcetera… It will provide an even wider shot pattern with less impact on long-range accuracy due to its larger size compared to other types like full. The improved modified also works well when target practicing over shorter distances because it allows more pellets out per shell fired without sacrificing impact power too much (so they still hit really hard!).
Skeet Choke Tube – The skeet choke can be used for all types of targets, including clay pigeon shooting and is great if you’re looking at using it when hunting birds or other small game like rabbits. It will provide an even wider shot pattern with less impact on long-range accuracy due to its larger size compared to the improved modified tube which means more pellets out per shell fired! This type also works well when target practicing over shorter distances because it allows more pellets out per shell fired without sacrificing impact power too much (so they still hit really hard!).
Extra Full Turkey Choke Tube – The extra full turkey choke provides a tight pattern that’s perfect for hunting big game like deer and boar as well as turkeys. It also works great when using it for target practicing at long ranges because it will keep your pellets grouped together tightly so you’re more likely to hit the target each time!
What gauge size is my Mossberg?
To determine which choke tube sizes are compatible with your Mossberg shotgun, first find out what gauge it uses. The most common Mossberg gauges are 12 and 20, but there are others as well so be sure to double-check before making a purchase. Once you know the gauge of your Mossberg, look at the corresponding column on the chart to see which tubes are compatible. For example, if you have a Mossberg that uses a 12-gauge shotgun, then you can use all of the choke tubes in the 12-gauge column on the chart.
